Introduction

There is no doubt that Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world. More than 20 percent of the world’s population practice this religion. Hinduism is also called Sanatan Dharma in other words. Because the followers of this religion follow their old customs, rites and traditions to the utmost. In terms of population, most Hindus live in India. But in terms of percentage, most of the followers of this religion live in Nepal. About 80 percent of Hindus live in Nepal. Apart from India and Nepal, people of this religion are already living in Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Fiji and other countries. But today the number and influence of Hindus can be seen increasing in many countries including USA, Canada, Europe, Africa.

History

Unlike other religions, Christianity and Islam do not have such a long history, while there is no concrete evidence that Hindus have such a long history. May be estimates range from 4,000 to 5,000 years old is correct. But not enough evidence is involved. In any case, there is no doubt that this is a very old religion which originated or developed in the Indian subcontinent.


Holy Books

There are many types of sacred books in this religion. The Vedas, which are said to be the essence of life, are considered very popular and sacred among the Hindus. It is considered to be a very ancient text written in Sanskrit language. There are 4 types of Vedas available in Hinduism:

1. Yajurveda
2. Atharva Veda
3. Samaveda
4. Rigveda.

Also, texts like Bhagwat Gita, Upanishad, Purana, Ramayana, Mahabharata etc. are sacred books of Hindus. The Bhagavad Gita, which describes the essence of life or the way of living, is the same book that is being read in schools and colleges in Europe and America today. Therefore, it can be said that the texts of Hindus are definitely useful for life.

 

Equality and trust

There are many similarities in the religions of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Kiraat etc. belonging to the Omkar family. Many of these deities are worshipped and revered by all the Gods with the same faith. There is not much difference between the style of worship and other rituals. The followers of these religions are mainly in agreement that the soul is immortal and the body is perishable. Om mantra and swastika symbol are found to be very important in all these.

Science and Hinduism

 At a glance in today’s world, the style of worship of Hindus seems to be traditional, but it has been confirmed to be scientific in many respects. Yoga, which is practiced all over the world, is a part of this religion. Ayurveda which has shown the way for change in health sciences. Is the study of Bhagwat Gita being studied and taught in western countries and is Hinduism really scientific?
